The Fourth International Congress of the
Asia Pacific Hernia Society and the Fifth
Annual Conference of the China Hernia
Society (APHS-2008-Beijing and CHS-
2008-Beijing) were held successfully from
31 October to 2 November 2008 at Crowne
Plaza View, Wuzhou, Beijing.
In the unforgettable, beautiful season and
the famous city, over 150 experts from
more than 30 countries, and 400 doctors
from China met and exchanged their ideas,
information and experience. There were
more than 120 excellent presentations
.
The scientific programme of APHS-2008-
Beijing and CHS-2008-Beijing made a
perfect balance between clinical education
and the latest scientific developments. It
highlighted the most relevant issues in the
diagnosis, management and treatment of
hernia, and presented the newest
information in basic, clinical and
population research. Undoubtedly, the
congress was of benefit to all practitioners
of hernia and abdominal wall surgery.
Awards given during the APHS Congress at Beijing, 2008
Three awards established by the Committee are conferred every year to the Best Oral Free paper (Bassini Prize),
Video (Stoppa Prize) and Poster Presentation (Cooper Prize).
At the APHS Congress in Beijing the awards were conferred only on the best oral and poster presentations since
no video was submitted:
